As is the case with pretty much any city in the world, there are going to be gimmicks, then there are going to be authentic experiences. While gimmicks can sometimes be fun in themselves, I personally prefer the latter – a real-life look into what makes the culture so special.
That’s exactly what you can expect with the Corral de la Moreria Madrid Flamenco Show with Optional Dinner! This 3-hour experience comes with an array of different start times, so you can find one that works in nicely with your schedule.
Taking place at the famous Corral de la Moreria, you’ll get to witness its history that dates back to 1956 – hosting legends from Paco de Lucia to past kings and queens! As the oldest and most famous flamenco tablao, it honors tradition without feeling dated.
In fact, I noticed that they snuck in some modern influence, which was kind of cool. I loved that our tour automatically came with seats at a table right in front of the stage, because I honestly probably wouldn’t have known where to book them, otherwise.
You can opt to upgrade to include a meal and welcome drinks, which comes with an array of traditional Spanish dishes, beer, and wine, which are perfect for accompanying the sights and sounds of the passionate show.
The show in total lasts around an hour, making it a fantastic date night option or activity to do with friends, followed up by a casual stroll through the Old Town of Madrid, should you like. The music and dancing was phenomenal, and I know you’ll be just as impressed as I was!

If it’s your first time going to a flamenco show, you may think it’s going to be mere music and dance – you’ll be pleasantly surprised once the music begins, to realize it’s something much deeper and more primal. This isn’t a show where you’re going to get bored or start looking at your phone to calculate just how many minutes are left.
The Essential Flamenco: Pure Flamenco Show in the Heart of Madrid is an immersive production that relies on breathtaking art rather than massive stages and flashy dinner menus.
Clocking in at around an hour and with tons of start times available, it’s an unforgettable activity that you will easily be able to fit into a busy schedule. Start out by heading to Essential Flamenco, where you’ll enter a small, dimly lit room which instantly feels like you’ve been transported back to what flamenco used to be.
It’s anything but a tourist spectacle – rather, you’ll be sitting just a few feet from the performers and even feel the stomping of their heels through the floorboards!
The small, traditional cave-like space was super cool to me, and upon arrival, we were given a drink and a brief history lesson on what we were about to experience. There were a mere 3 rows of chairs stuck close to the stage, with no meals or tables to distract or separate you from the crowd and energy of the performance.
Expect a very intimate show, which focuses purely on the fantastic acoustics, passion, and feeling. This is a show that will make the hairs on your arm stand on end, and the hour will just fly by. I’ve never seen anything quite like it, so if you’re aiming for “authentic”, this one can’t be missed.

3. Flamenco Show & Special Menu at Torres Bermejas in Madrid
- Duration: 1 hour
- Location: Torres Bermejas, Calle Mesonero Romanos 11, 28013 Madrid
- Show Time: 3:00 PM , 5:00 PM, 9:00 PM, 10:30 PM

The first time I ever thought about going to a flamenco show was with my Spanish friend, who had suggested Torres Bermejas as one of the top options. However, he had informed me that it’s almost always sold out, so our chances of getting in at this short of notice were quite slim.
Thankfully, I came across the Flamenco Show & Special Menu at Torres Bermejas in Madrid, which actually made our entry possible! Of course, you need to see a flamenco show to really appreciate its charm and history, but the circa-1960 venue is such a throwback, that I suggest visiting it, no matter what.
Complete with mesmerizing Arabic tiles and Moorish arches, it’s actually made to reproduce the interior of the Bermejas towers found in the Alhambra in Granada. In my opinion, it’s one of the most comfortable tablaos, from everything from the seats to the toilets!
If you have jetlag, I highly recommend you immediately book this experience, because with its raw energy and contagious passion, it’ll slap you awake in the best way. This flamenco show provides the “duende” – the indescribable flame that separates the real art from the watered-down tourist traps.
It was incredible to see the raw energy and love that every single musician and performer harnesses into this hour-long performance, with the energy never waning even for a moment.
Aside from the show itself, we selected the tapas dinner option, which consisted of charcuterie, rice, then a delicious dessert, along with a drink to wash it all down with.
Me being the history nerd I am, also loved learning about how so many legendary artists made their debuts here, such as Chato de la Isla, Camaron, Paco de Lucia, and more. All in all, I’d recommend this tour for literally anyone of any background or age. It’s pure magic!

4. Flamenco Show at the Tablao de la Villa Madrid
- Duration: 1 to 2 hours
- Location: Tablao de la Villa, Calle Torija 7, 28013 Madrid Spain
- Show Time: 7:00 PM, 9:45 PM
- Includes: Flamenco show, 1 drink
As you can tell, there are a few tablaos that are really important to Spanish history and culture – one of those is undoubtedly the Tablao de la Villa Madrid. This venue always guarantees a pure and authentic flamenco without any influence from the modern world, focusing on traditional cuisine and art.
The Flamenco Show at the Tablao de la Villa Madrid is the best way to see it, where you’ll sit and enjoy world-class flamenco in a house and palace from the 19th century located right in the Old Town of Madrid.
Something that’s difficult to find at times when you’re a visitor to a foreign city or country, is finding the real QUALITY activities, which focuses on the essence of the artform. This is the place to go if you want top-quality flamenco and Spanish cuisine, with attentive and friendly staff, and hypnotic dancers, singers, and musicians.
It’s also interestingly enough some of the best food I’ve had out of all the times I’ve visited Spain! That means that if you’re looking for a nice restaurant to have dinner at, you’re best off just choosing this tour, which offers not only an amazing show but a delicious “cena“, to boot.
It has more of a sitdown restaurant-style environment, where you can order dinner and change your mind, instead of having to select the dinner option beforehand. I enjoyed this alternative, as a few people in my group only chose to have dinner after seeing and smelling the delicious tapas that were passing right under their noses.
The ambiance was unmatched, offering an intimate vibe where you’re sitting right close, in front of the performers. It’s crazy to think that so much talent can exist on one small stage – really made me fall in love even more with Madrid!

5. Flamenco Show at Torres Bermejas in Madrid
- Duration: 1 hour
- Location: Torres Bermejas, Calle Mesonero Romanos 11, 28013 Madrid
- Show Time: 3:00 PM, 5:00 PM, 7:00 PM. 9:00 PM
- Includes: Drink, dinner (if option selected), live music, live show
Having watched countless different flamenco shows at this point, I noticed that many of them felt more polished – almost like they wanted the performers to hold back for the sake of potentially coming across as “too” passionate.
The Flamenco Show at Torres Bermejas in Madrid is definitely not neat, pretty, and polite – rather it’s filled with raw emotion that demands attention. The 1-hour tour starts as soon as you step inside the legendary palace, which transports you to Andalusia – with Moorish arches, ornate tilework, and an ambiance that feels somewhere between an underground hideaway, a speakeasy, and a royal residence.
We sat down close to the stage, and where immediately served with our choice of either red or white national wine. We chose to upgrade to the exclusive dinner, where we got to select from either their seasonal, fandango, or guajira menu – each one offering a variety of authentic Spanish cuisine.
The main dishes seemed to be either paella or a nice steak, though I did see that there were plenty of vegetarian and vegan options, as well. However, even if you don’t select the dinner, the show and venue are more than worth going for.
We were close enough to see the intense facial expressions, feel the wild toe-tapping, and become fully immersed in the incredible storytelling through song and dance.
While children under 6 years of age aren’t allowed, I highly recommend it for families with older children. It’s just long enough that it’s bound to keep their attention throughout the performance, and offers amazing cultural insight into Madrid and Spain, overall.
