If you’re in Milan, it’s obvious you’re going to be enjoying some amazing food – but what if I told you you could still take those authentic flavors with you anywhere you go after you leave?
Yep, it’s all possible with a class like the Milan: Pizza and Gelato-Making Class with Dinner and Wine, which offers 3 hours packed full of learning, fun, and shamelessly indulging! Whether you’re traveling solo, with a significant other, a friend group, or the entire family, you can count on a great time.
There are a couple of different start times available – a lunch option and then a dinner and wine option, so your meetup point will vary depending on which one you select. I personally recommend the latter, though both options are tasty and informative.
Ours took place at a beautiful cooking school, where we had the pleasure of meeting our guide, who is one of the most genuine, passionate chef instructors I’ve come across!
He did a fantastic job of managing our group of around 20 participants, making sure all of our questions were answered with plenty of one-on-one time to really learn adequately. As you can guess from the title of the class, it focused on making pizza and gelato from start to finish.
We had a couple of teenagers and pre-teens in our group, and his patience had them so engaged and laughing that everyone was having a blast!
While the dough rested, we got to enjoy some premium wines and olive oil with fresh bread, which was also quite a treat! Of course, the REAL treat was the delicious chocolate gelato we got to prep and enjoy all together afterward!
Don’t worry if you forget some of the steps along the way, as your guide will email you an electronic recipe booklet of everything you made afterward!

Next up is the Small Group Cozy Cooking Class in a Typical Milanese Home. If you’ve had the urge to try real home-cooked Italian food, it doesn’t get more authentic than this.
You’ll head into your expert chef host’s home, who’ll make you feel at home in her home-style loft, with hands-on pasta-making, delicious dessert, and plenty of wine and stories!
You get to choose from either the lunch or dinner option, though both are great alternatives to simply going out to a restaurant to have a meal. This courtyard home was absolutely beautiful and felt so quintessentially “Italian”, serving to create a more immersive, genuine experience for everyone.
I’ll admit that before, I thought that our meal was going to be challenging to whip up, but thanks to our host’s kind demeanor and patience, I soon discovered that it was much easier than I’d imagined.
Put on your included apron while she tells you all about the different ingredients required for either your lunch or dinner, though you’re going to be making pasta and pizza typically, regardless of the tour selected. You’ll be guided step-by-step through the egg and flour, rolling the dough out, and so on.
Oh, and did I mention that while you’re cooking and prepping, you’ll be provided with plenty of fine Italian wine to sip on? It’s crazy to think that in just a couple of hours, we’d whipped up a restaurant-worthy meal, complete with the classic dessert – tiramisu – to follow it all up.
After, you’re provided with all recipes and have time to sit down and enjoy your meal with the rest of your group. Trust me – this is a million times better than going out to a restaurant, and you get to have these meals whenever and wherever you want them, from here on out!

3. Milan – The Secrets to Learn Fresh Pasta and Tiramisu
- Duration: 3 hours
- Departure: V. Giuseppe Dezza, 47, 20144 Milano MI
- Departure Time: 12:00 PM, 6:00 PM
- Includes: Choose from lunch or dinner, alcoholic beverages, hands-on instruction from chef
Imagine walking into a gorgeous Milanese home located in quite literally a palace, in one of the most prestigious neighborhoods in the city, in order to learn some of the most popular traditional dishes.
You’ll do all that and more with the Milan – The Secrets to Learn Fresh Pasta and Tiramisu! This immersive experience takes you into the home of your expert host/instructor for 3 hours of fun and gluttony.
Start out by heading to your host’s home in the Milan city center, which is easily accessible for most travelers (especially with the subway blue line right there). The home itself was worth the money, to be honest – filled with stunning artwork and antique furniture that dates back hundreds of years, in some cases!
However, it never felt intimidating – rather, it felt like we were visiting an old family friend’s home who just happened to be a local who cooks incredibly well!
Our host was an older woman and while she did a fabulous job of instructing us step-by-step throughout the different dishes, there were a couple of moments where her grandchildren took over so she could have a breather.
We first learned how to prepare pasta ravioli, and I’m noting this particularly because it was more challenging to find a Milan cooking class that involved ravioli! Be prepared for plenty of Italian jokes and an overall lighthearted vibe, so it never really feels like a “class”.
After learning how to make the heavenly tiramisu, we all sat down with the instructors and the rest of our group to savor what we made, and toast with local wine (and even some homemade limoncello!). The connections and knowledge obtained here will forever stick with me – please don’t pass this opportunity up!

4. Milan: Italian Cooking Class with Food and Wine
- Duration: 3 hours
- Departure: Chef and the City shop
- Departure Time: Varies
- Includes: All ingredients, wine, beverages, professional host/instructor, class
There are few things more “Italian” than great art, great food, and great wine. While I recommend a dedicated art and history tour for the latter, we have the second two covered with the Milan: Italian Cooking Class with Food and Wine!
Taking place at the charming Chef and the City shop, you’ll spend the next 3 hours full of laughs, delicious traditional eats, and plenty of vino flowing. If you’re looking for ways to make your Milan trip even more memorable, this is easily one of the best ways to do it.
After all, you’ll be able to whip up an authentic Milanese pasta whenever you want, and you will always think back to this time. With a very small group setting, you can expect an intimate experience with your local expert home chef there to instruct and help on anything you need!
The pasta(s) made will vary, depending on which one the class decides on, though typically you’ll learn how to make tagliatelle, gnocchi, and/or ravioli. Something that I immediately noticed that was different from any other cooking class like this, was that I got to work at my own personal desk.
With others, I’ve shared tables, and while I certainly don’t mind, I did feel like I learned a bit more and was able to focus better. We made cacio and pepe sauce, ragu sauce, pasta, focaccia, brushetta, and the mouthwatering, bold tiramisu!
As we acquired our new culinary skills, we were provided with some tasty snacks like cheese and meats, olives, cookies, coffee, and more. After, we all sat down together to enjoy our delicious creations!

5. Gnocchi, Pasta, Tiramisù and Wine Class
- Duration: 3 hours
- Departure: Via Lodovico Settala, 1, 20124 Milano MI
- Departure Time: Varies
- Includes: Dinner, alcoholic beverages, soft drinks, bottled water, all cooking supplies, expert instructor
I’m an absolute sucker for a proper gnocchi, though I have had a hard time finding it in many cities in Italy! Thank goodness I found the Gnocchi, Pasta, Tiramisu and Wine Class, which now means I can unlock a delicious gnocchi literally whenever I feel like it.
Set in a cozy kitchen, you’ll get hands-on with everything you need to make your own, with a class guided by Chef Francesco, who’s patient, fun, and all about good food and good vibes.
Start by meeting him and the rest of your group at the kitchen, and waste no time getting into the learning experience. You’ll don your apron and get all necessary ingredients prepped, learning about the history of the different dishes you’re about to make.
If you have any questions or comments, he’s very attentive, so you can rest assured you’ll never just be left behind! Learn how to whip up and knead the dough, making a delicious gnocchi infused with truffle (amazing!), all while you enjoy some great wine and chat with your fellow group members.
If you’re looking for a Milan cooking class for children, I’d say this should be at the top of your list, as well. The chef did a great job at helping the kids in our class, keeping them entertained while ensuring they stayed safe.
After, learn how to properly layer a deliciously rich tiramisu before you all set down around the table together to enjoy your dinner! We poured some more wine as we shared stories from around the globe and learned that we can make some amazing Italian food!
