Venice Wine Tour Reviews

1. Experience Venice Like A Local: Small Group Cicchetti & Wine Tour

Tour Highlights:

  • Duration: 2.5 hours
  • Departure: Campo de la Maddalena, 30121 Venezia VE
  • Departure Time: 11:00 AM & 5:00 PM
  • Includes:¬†Join a local Venetian English-speaking guide, 5 Glasses of local wine and 1 Venetian Spritz, taste 7 Cicchetti dishes and 1 dessert, cross the famous canal on a traghetto gondola ferry, discover magical Venice with a local by your side, personalized tips for the area’s best bars and eateries

My first time walking through the little alleyways and picturesque Venetian canals, I was taken aback by the smell of delicious dishes and heard the clinking of wine glasses all around me.

I tried the typical “touristy” food and wine spots, but nothing compared to the locales I enjoyed on this first tour. The Experience Venice Like a Local: Small Group Cicchetti & Wine Tour¬†offered me a beautiful glimpse into how locals mingle and¬†all the delicious places they go to drink and eat!

This tour starts off right in the center of the city, and our guide was so warm and welcoming that I felt comfortable asking him any questions I had.

The small group setting was perfect for really learning and experiencing things authentically, rather than being herded around in a massive group without personalized attention.

Our first stop of the day was at one of Venices’s best cicchetti bars known for serving up¬†this local kind of Italian “tapas” (small dishes made to be shared).

One of my favorite stops was at the 18th-century bar on Strada Nuova, which was cool based on the vibe and history alone, but their cod cicchetti and fantastic wine selection made it all the better.

After this, we had some time to digest as we crossed the Grand Canal on a charming passenger ferry at the famous Rialto Market! This was my first time on one of the iconic gondola boats and was such a wonderful way to experience the “highway” of Venice.

In Rialto, I got to see how locals come and gather their local produce before stopping at a little eatery run by young Venetians who have come up with some really interesting dishes that combine modern techniques with more traditional recipes.

These were just a couple of stops we made, and I was surprised at just how much we were able to see on this tour! I’d recommend it to anyone who just arrived to Venice for the first time!

This next tour is one of the most comprehensive, clocking in at around twice the length of time as the first one. However, there’s not a moment that went by that I could even think about being bored!

The Full Day Prosecco Wine Tasting from Venice is a 6-hour venture through the lush natural landscapes of the Veneto region, characterized by rolling vineyards and historic estates that produce some of the most delicious wines in Europe.

Rather than meeting in central Rome, our guide came right to our hotel to pick us up in a comfortable, air-conditioned vehicle to head right out on a scenic drive through the picturesque countryside.

I found the drive to be very relaxing, with big windows highlighting panoramic views, and our guide told us all kinds of interesting facts and historical stories along the way.

His incredible knowledge about both the local area and the wineries/wines enriched the experience so much and gave me a great baseline amount of understanding upon arrival!

The Prosecco wine tour in Conegliano Valdobbiadene was truly magical, with a private winery visit and tasting amidst rolling hills and medieval villages.

It felt like something out of a fairytale, and I felt like a true VIP when we toured the 2 different wine estates with the owners/family, themselves!

At each location, we were taught about the history and production of Prosecco, beginning in the small town of the same name that was also given to the local castle where the wine was originally produced so many years ago!

We tried brut, extra-dry, dry, and rosè Prosecco, where we learned about the different grapes and processes behind each one as we tasted. We also learned about how to properly pair them and tried plenty of tasty snacks as we went.

Afterward, we filled up on some delicious lunch at the famous Osteria senz’Oste, which has equally delicious food as it does amazing views.

3. Eat, Drink and Repeat: Wine Tasting Tour in Venice

I was on the hunt for a unique Venice tour that was more in-depth than the kind of experience I’d get from simply visiting wine bars without a guide.

The Eat, Drink and Repeat: Wine Tasting Tour in Venice¬†taught me a surprising amount about local wine and the production process in just a couple of hours. If you’re looking for an educational tour or simply a fun night out with that special someone, this is a great alternative to a typical visit to a bar.

As you can see, each one of these 5 tours are different, and this one stands out for its specific emphasis on the educational part of Venetian wine.

However, that’s not to say that it’s in any way boring or full of details that you could get from a simple Google search. Rather, this is a little adventure through the gastronomic scene led by passionate guides who are locals and know a ton about wine!

Upon meeting our guide, we instantly became friends and our small group tour setting was perfect for getting to know other travelers from all around the globe.

We strolled around the picturesque canals, making intermittent stops at quaint osterias and hidden enotecas to try a bunch of fantastic regional wines! We tried everything from crisp Pinot Grigios to bold Amarones, learning how to pair each with some tasty snacks.

Avoiding the tourist traps, we were enthralled in the legends and anecdotes our guide regaled to us from each neighborhood, seamlessly working the stories back to the foods and wines we were sampling.

It gave me a whole new perspective on Venice and the way locals live their lives, as well as how they choose wine! I’ll definitely use this information in the future, every time I’m going out to order wine or buying some from the store!

4. Prosecco – Wine Tour & Tasting – Full Day in the Prosecco Region

Tour Highlights:

  • Duration:¬†6 to 7 hours
  • Departure: 30135 Venice, Metropolitan City of Venice
  • Departure Time: 9:00 AM
  • Includes:¬†Air-conditioned vehicle, driver, transfer with minivan or car

This next tour is a wonderful way to get away from the hustle and bustle of the city, out into the tranquil rolling hills of the Italian countryside.

The Processo РWine Tour & Tasting РFull Day in the Prosecco Region was such a relaxing time full of majestic views, postcard-perfect villages, and of course, plenty of wine! This tour brings you all the way to the province of Treviso, where we learned all about the wine production process, from top to bottom.

I will say that I feel the tour guides really do think of everything with this selection, starting with a convenient pickup right from our hotel!

The tour is conducted in a small-group setting, but the transport will take place in a private minivan or car, depending on the size of the group. It’s also a great way to see parts of Italy that I wouldn’t have been able to, otherwise!

Starting out at 9:00 am, this is a full-day tour that includes all transportation, and will still have you back before dinnertime.

Our guide surprised me with how much they knew about wine from this region, learning about the centuries-old tradition of winemaking that defines this part of Italy.

Upon arrival to our first stop at the first winery, I already had a nice amount of knowledge but this really took us deep into the Prosecco production process.

After trying some glasses of Prosecco Superiore DOCG, we then had a delicious local lunch consisting of various typical dishes made with fresh ingredients (my favorite was the salami and cheese).

After refueling, we then continued to the second wine tasting with amazing views and plenty of more wine tasting. Overall, this was an adventure that I’d recommend to anyone – even if you aren’t particularly into wine.

5. Prosecco Wine Tour, Half-Day From Venice

  • Departure Time: 10:00 AM
  • Includes:¬†Air-conditioned vehicle, Lunch, Private transportation, Photo stop, Pick-up and drop-off, Local guide, Certified Sommelier

This is yet another tour that takes you out into the Italian countryside but isn’t quite as long as the others of this kind. This makes it the ideal option if you’d like an authentic Prosecco wine tour experience without spending a full day out there!

The Prosecco Wine Tour, Half-Day from Venice whisks you away to the charming Veneto region, where vineyards stretch as far as the eye can see!

I’m a huge history buff and wine aficionado, and I felt that this tour perfectly combined the two in a seamless itinerary. I appreciated that this tour started by picking us up right from our hotel lobby, in an air-conditioned vehicle with big windows for prime viewing.

As we cruised along the relaxing drive through the rolling hills, our guide shared plenty of interesting stories about the Prosecco process and tasting!

Our first main stop was at Col del Lupo, right in the heart of this wine-growing region, where we learned about the Conegliano Valdobbiadene Prosecco Superiore DOCG.

I found this to be one of the most smooth, nicely-sweet Prosecco I’d ever had, making it clear to me why it’s so well-reputed. I also learned what DOC and DOCG mean, what flavors to look for, and what circumstances help to create this flavor profile.

Following that up, we paid an interesting visit to the ancient mill of Vecchio Mulino della Croda, which was simply breathtaking!

This 17th-century piece of rural architecture is like traveling back in time, complete with a beautiful, green flowing stream and picturesque scenery that makes it feel like you’re stepping into a postcard. If you’re into history, architecture, or wine, do yourself a favor and sign up for this tour!
