Prague may be one of the cheapest capitals in Europe, but even if it weren’t, we’d urge you to check out this beautiful place. It’s a city that anyone and everyone can appreciate, and is easily one of the most picturesque cities in the world.
Thanks to it not being too badly damaged during WWII, many of its old buildings are still perfectly intact, and are much older than what you’d see in the more “mainstream” capitals.
Dimly-lit alleyways lead to thumping nightclubs, tasty beer is incredibly affordable, history and art aficionados will fall in love, and it’s super easy to get around.
One of the best ways to appreciate it all is by going on one of the top Prague dinner cruises, and we have them all right here!

Best Time of Year to Visit
By far, the best time to visit Prague is either late spring or early fall. The city isn’t too hot nor too cold, and it still isn’t the peak season so you’ll avoid the vast majority of tourists.
The summertime is also very pleasant in terms of weather conditions, but there are a ton of crowds – for example, Charles Bridge will be packed full of people most days.
Tips
1. Tipping – You can tip anywhere between 5 to 15% percent of your bill if you’re in a restaurant or taxi. 20% and above is not expected.
2. Don’t expect people to smile at you – It’s not that locals aren’t friendly – they’re actually some of the kindest people out there. However, local culture isn’t too much on warm, affectionate behavior if they don’t know you.
3. They don’t use the Euro – Rather, you’ll need to get some Czech Crowns/Korunas which are about 22 to 1 USD. Make sure to always keep some cash on you as some places don’t accept cards.
4. Wear comfortable walking shoes – While Prague has a solid public transportation system, it’s very walkable, and you’ll likely put in a lot of steps.
Sights to See Along the River
Charles Bridge
Charles Bridge is undoubtedly one of the most iconic sites in Prague, often considered to be the most beautiful bridge in all of Europe. That’s saying a lot, when you start thinking about places like Paris, London, or Southern Germany.
Named after Charles IV in 1357, this is the oldest bridge over the Vltava River. Comprised of 16 pillars, it features magnificent statues, incredible Gothic bridge towers at both ends, and incredible detail and artistry.
Rudolfinum
Close to Charles Bridge, you’ll find one of the oldest concert halls in all of Europe. The neo-renaissance structure holds an auditorium and art gallery inside and has some of the best views of Hradčany.
National Theater
The enormously imposing theater looms over the river, sitting adjacent to Legion Bridge since 1881.
Vyšehrad
Travel back in time with what is considered the oldest seat of Czech princes, including the Gothic Cellar, fortress, cemetery, and much more.
Dancing House
Prague may feel like it’s been frozen in time, but it has incredibly quirky and eccentric structures that add character to the city. The Dancing House is perhaps the most quirky that you’ll be able to see on these tours, as it sits right on the river bank. Its current location used to hold a home destroyed by the US bombing in 1945.
