NYC Bike Tour Reviews

1. New York City: Highlights of Central Park Bike or eBike Tour

Tour Highlights:

  • Duration: 2 hours
  • Departure: 56 W 56th Street between 5th and 6th avenue
  • Departure Time: 10:00 AM, 1:00 PM, 4:00 PM
  • Includes: Guided Central Park bike tour, use of bike, helmet (mandatory), bike bag

If you have a couple of hours free and are looking to experience Central Park in a way that’s fun, informative, and ensures you won’t get lost, the New York City: Highlights of Central Park Bike or eBike Tour is a fantastic choice.

This 2-hour tour covers around 7 miles, which sounds like a lot, but you don’t even feel it when you’re sightseeing and drawn into your surroundings! This makes it a great choice for families, solo travelers, friend groups, and first-time visitors, in general!

Things start off just a couple of blocks from the park’s entrance (well, one of the main ones), which is already quite convenient as you don’t have to pedal around much on the street.

Meet at the shop and your guide will help get you sorted with your bike, helmet, and bike bag to store all your valuables before doing a quick practice run to learn how to operate the bike. They’re super easy to use, and if you don’t feel like you’re in shape enough for a regular bike, you’ll love just how much assistance the electric aspect helps move you along with minimal effort.

As you pedal through the park, you’ll make stops at iconic spots like Bethesda Fountain, Strawberry Fields, the Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis Reservoir, and many more!

It’s actually crazy when you think about how many movies, tv series, and music videos have been filmed here – I certainly didn’t realize just how many spots I’d seen in pop culture before! At each spot, our guide shared interesting stories with us and allowed for us to take photos (and even take some for us!).

Central Park is honestly super easy to get distracted in, with so many different sights to see – both manmade and natural – so it’s great to have a guide who knows the sprawling greenspace like the back of their hand.

The pacing was leisurely and just right, and as our group was quite small, it just felt like a few good friends pedaling around and sightseeing!

2. From Manhattan: 2-Hour Brooklyn Bridge Sightseeing Bike Tour

Tour Highlights:

  • Duration: 2 hours
  • Departure: 79 Chambers Street, between Broadway and Church Street
  • Departure Time: 10:00 AM, 4:00 PM
  • Includes: Bike tour with licensed New York City guide, bike rental, helmet, bike bag, map

I know it’s a hot spot when it comes to Instagram and photo ops, but the Brooklyn Bridge is easily one of the most impressive, captivating landmarks in all of NYC for me.

The first time I experienced it I was just strolling along, and while it was certainly wonderful, the From Manhattan: 2-Hour Brooklyn Bridge Sightseeing Bike Tour was certainly the way I should’ve done it the first time.

You’ll not only get to see the bridge in all its glory while learning all about it, but you’ll get to see the surrounding neighborhoods while your guide points out special points of interest along the way.

Starting off at the bike shop between Broadway and Church, your guide awaits, getting you sorted with your rental bike, helmet, bike bag, and map. While this rental isn’t an e-bike, you won’t be pedaling anywhere near the distance you would be on the previous tour.

Our guide was super friendly and funny, sharing information in a way that was digestible and easy to understand. Follow your guide up the City Hall district of Manhattan, working up a bit of a sweat, and head up the amazing Brooklyn Bridge.

The uphill section takes around 15 minutes, which can be a bit challenging if you aren’t used to it, but it’s definitely worth it. After, you’ll take a well-deserved rest at the tower on the Brooklyn side, which is where you’re going to get those famous skyline shots of Manhattan.

It really is breathtaking – even more so when you feel just how enormous the structure is, learning about how intense the building process was to make it in the first place! Your guide will point out iconic landmarks like the Statue of Liberty, Ellis Island, etc., before heading back down into Brooklyn and seeing some of the oldest homes there.

3. New York City: City Highlights Guided Bike or eBike Tour

Tour Highlights:

  • Duration: 79 Chambers Street between Broadway and Church Street
  • Departure: 3.5 hours
  • Departure Time: 11:00 AM
  • Includes: Licensed guide, bike rental, bike bag, helmet (mandatory)

Next up, is the New York City: City Highlights Guided Bike or eBike Tour, which is a bit longer than the others I’ve covered so far. Both active and immersive, this 3.5-hour adventure gets you street-level while covering a good amount of ground through iconic neighborhoods and landmarks.

With an expert local guide there to show you the ins and outs, mixing famous sights with hidden gems, you’ll see so much more than you would on your own! There are a few different start times available, making it quite easy to fit into even the busiest of schedules.

Start off by meeting your guide at the bike shop, where you’ll get your bike rental, helmet, and bike bag for your belongings. E-bikes are offered for those 16 years of age and older, which do make a big difference in terms of power, so if you feel like you may not be able to do 9 miles on a regular bike, this is an excellent alternative!

The route starts on the Manhattan side of the Brooklyn Bridge, taking you to all kinds of famous places, like Battery Park, Little Italy, Chinatown, and Washington Square Park!

Our guide did such a great job of sharing interesting historical facts, stories, as well as plenty of insight only a local could provide. Seeing all of these neighborhoods by bike was fantastic, as we were able to cover so much ground without breaking a sweat!

In addition to some of the different neighborhoods, you’ll get to ride along the Hudson Greenway, which has plenty of history on its own – like how Sully Sullenberger landed a plane on the Hudson! These few hours are going to fly by, so make sure you remember to take some photos and videos along the way!

There are 4 different start times available, spanning the morning to the late afternoon, making it super easy to fit into a busy schedule. Covering around 5 miles, this Central Park tour is perfect for families with children, or for those who don’t feel comfortable pedaling greater distances.

Start out just a few blocks away from the park, meeting your guide to pick up your bike – they offer adult and kids’ bikes, child trailers, and child seats, to make things as convenient as possible.

Our group was relatively small, and our guide seemed to be attentive to literally everything, watching over each one of us while still sharing fun facts and fascinating stories throughout.

No one ever felt left behind, and all of our bikes were in good working condition, which made us feel more confident in what we were doing. We made enough regular stops that the ride was quite easy to take on, and it was organized in a way that we didn’t miss anything.

See Bethesda Fountain, Strawberry Fields, the infamous Reservoir, Literary Walk, and much more! They even gave us the option of renting our bike beyond the tour time, so we could use it to further explore the park and NYC independently.
